truMED is a healthcare company focused on delivering personalized treatments and diagnostic support via mobile and web platforms. In 2022, they partnered with TechGenies to stabilize, assess, and enhance their digital ecosystem after a series of handoffs and fragmented development cycles.

Problem Statement

Following a change in development partners, truMED inherited a fragile codebase with minimal documentation, no automated testing infrastructure, and an unreliable release process. The application was in a state where fixing one issue often introduced others. Simultaneously, truMED needed to design and implement a new subscription and CRM signup process, but lacked the in-house resources and reliable infrastructure to do so efficiently.

Also, their patient app was only supported on iOS and they needed to have also Android support.

Solution

To address these intertwined challenges, truMED engaged TechGenies across three phased initiatives:

1. Code Audit and Technical Assessment: A technical deep dive to evaluate code quality, infrastructure resilience, documentation status, and security practices.

2. QA & Infrastructure Overhaul: Establishment of automated testing, environment segmentation (dev, test, prod), and documentation to maintain a releasable product state.

3. Subscription System Build-Out: Design and implementation of a fully integrated CRM and subscription onboarding system, including payment workflows, Zoho CRM syncing, and a user-friendly web portal.

4. Migration from ReactNative to Flutter framework to support easily iOS and Android.
Since ReactNative version also required a lot of changes, with the client we decided to start the full app on Flutter and aiming to support Android and iOS.

Key Features of the TechGenies Solution

1. Comprehensive Technical Audit

– Evaluated frontend (ReactNative), backend (NodeJS), and infrastructure (AWS, DocumentDB) components

– Identified API vulnerabilities, code structure gaps, and CI/CD inefficiencies

– Delivered an actionable remediation roadmap with risk scoring and restructuring options

2. QA Automation & Environment Restructuring

– Designed and executed over 100 test cases, automated using best-in-class tools

– Introduced tiered staging environments (dev, staging, prod) hosted on AWS

– Documented every bug from manual QA cycles and prepared frontend code for future restructuring

3. Subscription Workflow Development

– Built a patient onboarding process integrating Stripe payments, Zoho CRM, and Terms/EULA acceptance with enforced scroll-to-consent UX

– Enabled flexible payment types: subscription, office reimbursement, third-party billing

– Delivered a responsive patient web portal for subscription management, credit card updates, and password resets

Results

– System Stability: Enabled rapid development on a stable, tested foundation, reducing QA regression time significantly

– Accelerated Time-to-Value: Delivered the subscription onboarding MVP within a tight 1-month window

– Operational Scalability: Infrastructure and automation setup now supports future restructuring, LMS integration, and patient video features

– Improved Documentation & Security: Detailed DevOps, QA, and product documentation created; AWS infrastructure secured with credential safeguards and multi-factor authentication

– Client Satisfaction: truMED was able to shift from reactive fixes to a proactive development roadmap, positioning the app for broader market rollout
