Delivering an HR marketplace platform on time and under budget for an early-stage startup.
A fully operational multivendor HR marketplace built from the ground up during a compressed timeline, with integrated e-commerce, CRM automation, and a front-end the client's team could manage independently from day one.
THE CHALLENGE
An HR technology startup set out to build an ambitious marketplace platform during the COVID-19 pandemic with a tight timeline, a constrained budget, and no internal development team. Previous technology partners had failed to grasp the scope of what the business was trying to build, leaving the founders without a viable path to market and behind schedule. The company needed a partner that could move quickly, stay within budget, and understand the product vision clearly enough to execute without requiring constant redirection on scope or priorities.
OUR APPROACH
The proposal stage was where this engagement was decided. Not on price alone, but because we demonstrated a genuine understanding of what the client was building and why it mattered commercially. Previous partners had treated the project as a technical build. We treated it as a product launch with a business model that had to work from the moment it went live. That framing shaped every decision that followed.
The platform required both technical depth and commercial functionality working together: a multivendor marketplace, e-commerce transaction capability, CRM automation, and a front-end the founding team could operate without ongoing developer support. We made the deliberate choice to build for operational independence from the outset, ensuring the client would not need to return to us for routine updates or management tasks after launch.
- • Designing and building a custom multivendor HR marketplace on a WooCommerce and WCFM-based platform, enabling multiple vendors to list and transact through a single storefront.
- • Deploying and configuring the platform on AWS to ensure reliability and scalability from day one of operation.
- • Integrating HubSpot functions and automations to support marketing and CRM workflows without requiring a separate technical team to manage them post-launch.
- • Building custom WordPress and Divi modules to give the client a flexible, independently manageable front-end that removed long-term developer dependency.
THE RESULTS
Platform delivered on time and under budget.
The full marketplace was built and launched within the client’s original timeline despite a constrained budget and a global pandemic operating environment.
Product vision executed accurately.
The client received a platform that matched what they had set out to build, an outcome that had eluded every previous technology partner they had engaged.
Marketplace live and transacting at launch.
The multivendor and e-commerce infrastructure was fully operational from day one, enabling the business to begin transacting immediately rather than after a post-launch stabilization period.
Full operational independence achieved.
CRM automations and a self-manageable front-end meant the founding team could run and evolve the platform without returning to a development partner for routine changes.
Going forward, the client operates a marketplace it owns outright and can evolve without external dependency. Launching on schedule and under budget in a pandemic environment preserved the business momentum that slower execution would have cost. That outcome was not incidental to the technical work. It was the point.
